Case study: Padmavathi
It was a shock to the mother of little Padmavathi from India when she held her daughter in her arms for the first time after a difficult birth. In the space where you would normally expect to see her nose or mouth, the girl had instead a cleft, a huge hole. As the mother was cuddling her child she began to cry when she realised what this all meant: The little one would never be able to drink, eat or speak properly. Padmavathi would never be able to say “mummy” properly, no-one would be able to understand what she was saying.
The big dream has become reality
Thanks to the support of a large number of generous people, our foundation was able to give a new start to this little girl with the big eyes. Barely a few weeks after her operation in Hyderabad, there was scarcely any trace left of her earlier troubles. Her dream had become reality!
The most recent pictures of Padmavathi show a wonderful girl who is rapidly turning into a very attractive young woman. Within her close family Padma, as we affectionately call her, has matured into a person with a strong personality. With enormous gratitude and a great deal of persistence she has made the most of her opportunities to assert herself in the world and fulfil other ambitions on own initiative. Today Padmavathi's parents are still beaming with the joy of having such a happy and healthy daughter. They will be grateful for Professor Sailer's assistance for the rest of their lives.
